Microsoft Office Home Installation
Microsoft Office is available to faculty and administrators for work-related use on employee-owned home computers.
ITS has purchased employee "work at home" rights for Microsoft Office through its Microsoft Campus Subscription Enrollment plan. The software is licensed for work-related use by faculty and administrators only. The license does not extend to personal use on home computers, and the software must be removed from your home computer if your employment by Lafayette College ends, or if the licensing agreement with Microsoft is terminated, or if your position no longer carries the expectation of performing college-related work at home.
Employees who are neither faculty nor administrators but who are expected to perform college-related work at home using Microsoft Office may be eligible for the software. In these cases, the Work at Home Acceptance Form (see below) must be accompanied by a printed request from the employee's supervisor or department head stating that work at home using Microsoft Office is expected and allowed.
Employees who are ineligible for Microsoft Office work at home software are encouraged to download and install OpenOffice, a productivity application suite available for free from OpenOffice.org. OpenOffice provides applications for word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, etc., and is fully compatible with Microsoft Office.
To request an installation CD for Microsoft Office work at home software, please print the Work at Home Acceptance Form, fill it out, and send it via campus mail to Thiana Kitrilakis, Skillman Library. (Hand-delivered forms are acceptable, but the software will not be issued at the time of delivery.) After your eligibility has been verified, an installation CD will be mailed to you via campus mail. If you would like to have the CD mailed to your home, please make a note to this effect and include your home address at the bottom of the Acceptance Form.
Note that you will need to install Office on your home computer yourself—ITS cannot configure employee home computers.
