ITS is implementing a new telecommunications platform with advanced collaborative features including voice and video calls, chat, presence, as well as integration with the campus directory and other enterprise applications. The platform is provided by eZuce, developers of an open-source Voice Over IP (VoIP) system. Through this effort ITS will strengthen the College’s commitment to enhance communication, facilitate collaborations, and build community.
In late July 2012, the current phone system began its integration with the new system. During the fall semester, ITS will migrate 100 members of the Lafayette community, including faculty, students and staff, to the new unified communications system. Lafayette extensions campus-wide will remain the same throughout and after the project. ITS will analyze feedback from these pilot users to determine the impact of unified communications on teaching, learning, and working.
