Provost Wendy Hill and Vice President for Communications Robert Massa have announced the beginning of a plan for a "major reconstruction and face-lift" of the college's Web presence. ITS and the Communications Division (CD) are leading an effort that includes moving most of the college's Web content to the open source WordPress MU ("Multi-User") platform, which allows authors to easily create and update media-rich Websites.

Two WordPress installations are now live — depts.lafayette.edu hosts academic and administrative departmental sites, and sites.lafayette.edu hosts pages for individuals, student organizations, academic courses, and events.

Current Lafayette Web authors should note that ww2.lafayette.edu will be retired on June 30, 2010. All content on ww2, including departmental and personal web pages, must be migrated to WordPress before then. To request a WordPress site, visit the Web Site Accounts page.

ITS is offering workshops in support of WordPress authoring, as well as a growing collection of help documents. For a complete list of currently scheduled workshops, see the ITS Event Calendar.

Questions about ITS workshops and using WordPress can be directed to Courtney Bentley (bentleyc).

Questions about content guidelines and services that the CD can provide in support of departmental WordPress sites should be directed to Web manager Allison Gaul (gaula) and Web developer Erwin Annulysse (annulyse).
