Information Technology Services (ITS) offers a number of employment opportunities for students throughout the academic year and summer months. The majority of the positions report to the User Services group providing assistance to the campus community with desktop support issues. The Tech Lounge provides walk-in support for student-owned personal computers. Other groups within ITS such as Instructional Technology and Network Services employ students on an “as needed” basis and this work typically involves programming or assisting with the installation/maintenance of network hardware.
Successful ITS student employees can effectively communicate with all members of the campus community, demonstrate an ability to understand a wide variety of IT related issues, and most importantly are reliable, courteous, and patient.
An understanding of the following technologies is a plus, but not required for employment: Operating Systems (Windows, OSX, Linux), applications (Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite), hardware & peripherals (printers, scanners, computer set up), and Lafayette specific technologies (Cisco NAC, Moodle, WordPress).
