In mid-April 2009, ITS began the process of upgrading all college-owned computers to the latest versions of Microsoft Office: Office 2007 for Windows and Office 2008 for Macs.

In response to recommendations from administrative department heads and the Faculty IT Advisory Committee, all computers within an office or department will be upgraded at the same time. The upgrade schedule is based on dates determined by ITAC and admin offices to be the least disruptive to normal workflow; specific dates and times will be coordinated with each department/office. The following are the tentative dates for upgrades:

Upgrade Schedule

Adminstration/Staff: Upgrades will take place April 13 - 24, May 25 - June 12, and July 8 - 22. Scheduling will be coordinated through Banner liasons; departments/offices without liasons will be contacted by ITS.

Academic Support Staff: Upgrades will take place between May 25 and July 22. ITS will contact you directly to arrange a date/time appropriate to your summer work schedule.

Faculty: Scheduling will be coordinated through department heads for upgrades to take place between September 14 and October 30. Individuals who would like to be upgraded prior to the start of the fall term are welcome to contact ITS at help@lafayette.edu with preferred dates/times.

Office Upgrade Support

ITS will offer Office workshops and "open lab" sessions throughout the spring and summer; books and self-paced training DVDs for Office and its component applications are available in Skillman Library.
